Traffic Exchanges and Safelists

Traffic Exchanges and Safelists

When I applied to a paid blogging service and was told that my 1,000 visitor brand new website didn't have enough traffic to approve me to write for them, I knew that I needed to find a way to build more traffic. I joined every social network that I was invited to and despite repeatedly filling out profiles, it didn't help much. I'm not sure how I even found out about traffic exchanges. I recently found out that you can actually buy traffic and that was out of the question. When traffic exchanges were brought to my attention, I started with Traffic Swarm. At first, I loved it and noticed a decent increase in unique visitors to my site. They have an anti-cheat system that works both to create equality among members and keep the robots away. You are required to view a site for twenty seconds and earn between 1 and 5 credits for each site you visit. Twice I've clicked on a site and have received fifty points. The credits are deducted from your balance when people view your sites. You can list up to ten urls. The most difficult part is building the 100 credits needed to activate your membership and after that it should just be a few minutes per day. You can recruit others and earn from their clicks as well. Less than one week ago, I joined StartXChange.

Thus far, StartXchange Manual traffic exchange is becoming my favorite. It's quick and easy to earn credits! All you need to do is surf the links and view a site for ten seconds, which is long enough to see what the site is about and determine whether your interested. You click on matching shapes that appear when the ten seconds is up, much easier than waiting for the countdown on Traffic Swarm, which sometimes takes longer than it should. Twenty seconds is already too long and the counter slowing down or stopping altogether makes it even longer.StartXChange is a team effort. Teams surf together and receive points and awards for surfing, forum activity and referrals. There is a banner rotation and you can rotate up to five banners. This works on your credits as well. I am impressed with the number of times that my banners have been viewed. You receive a bonus for every 100 pages viewed. I've received bonuses ranging from 5 credits to over 1,000 impressions. There's a community forum with support resources and very friendly people and strict rules against spam. My stats consistently show referrals from Traffic Swarm but not always from StartXChange.

With either of these, you can add websites, youtube videos, promotional pages, etc. Both allow you to list up to ten urls and I recently figured out that if your credits are going down too fast you may have to remove some of them for a while, but you can change your sites and rotations at any time. Another thing that StartXChange has over Traffic Swarm is that you can assign the number of views for each site. Traffic Swarm has a credit cap that you can add and I've yet to figure out how that works, but I don't want people getting just one credit from clicks to my site anyway.

I just joined Dragon Surf. I don't like the credit system. They are making a big deal out of the surf ratio, yet it only increases every 100 views starting at .33 and increasing my increments of .10 with each set of required views. I'm not sure how many people could sit there and click on more than 100 sites. I know that I can't. But Dragon Surf makes up with for it with bonus points. Every 20 views, you get to play a little game where you are shown three dragons in caves and choose one to click on for a reward of credits, text link and banner impressions. It's kind of fun and sometimes your reward is a big fat zero. Dragon Surf's system was a little hard to figure out and building enough credits to start with seemed to take forever. You are allowed three sites, three text links and three banners and they must be approved before going in to the rotation. I like Dragon Surf well enough but I also noticed something else that was a bit "fishy." I was invited to this exchange by one of my uplines, whose site was automatically listed in my sites. This raises a question as to whether Dragon Surf is owned by Home Income Team. I noticed this evening that out of my three chosen text links, consisting of two internet marketing sites, one of which is Home Income Team and one of my blogs, my blog got the least showings. And there was a big difference. The blog got 200 and the other two had over 1,000 each. I recently found out that most of the traffic exchange owners have favorite programs that they sign up new members under as referrals. I guess it's not such a bad thing. I've been very happy with the Home Income Team program that actually referred me to Dragonsurf and was automatically listed when I joined.

One of the drawbacks to traffic surfing sites, at least for me, is the horrendous number of crazy, unbelievable get rich quick schemes that you have to look at. I try to recruit people more because I want to have higher quality sites to view rather than to gain from their clicks! I will say that the free e-books that lots of these sites give away are slightly to very helpful and informative, but it's also a way of getting you to opt-in to their mailing lists. I'm a lot more careful about marking e-mail as spam these days because I feel I opted in on a lot of those. I am increasingly changing my opinion of internet marketing as I continue to find programs that seem to have potential. Other than having signed up for more of these than I should have and wanting to pass them on, I have already received referrals on two of the income opportunities and traffic exchanges. I have a downline of 17 on Traffic Swarm that seems to have come mainly from just one person, my first referral! I need to get this person on all of my teams! Creating interesting content to break the monotony of ads in the traffic exchanges is another reason I created this site. Once I get finished with the important reviews, I'll be adding as much fun and interesting content as I can get my hands on. I'd love to hear your feedback.

I just signed up for this one but haven't had time to do much surfing. Linkscout offers your own links portal page and I'm still not quite sure how it works. I'll be back with a review, but you can check it out yourself in the meantime:

What Is A Safelist?

A safelist is a group of people willing to receive each others' e-mail promotions with the common goal of generating more business. MORE

It's quick and painless. You get 20 credits for each text link you click on plus extra credits for clicking on banners around the site. With a free membership, you can post one ad per 24 hour period. It might be a bit of an inconvenience to change the ad every day, but if you have a lot of sites it's a great way to rotate them daily. Paid members can post unlimited text ads. When you join, you are also opting-in to receive e-mails from members. You receive 100 points for clicking on a confirmation link. You can receive extra points for clicking on other ads and banners around the site and in the e-mails. On this safelist, your points can be traded in for advertising when they reach a certain level.

My Daily List Builder works in much the same way but gives fewer points for e-mails and only 3 points for clicking on text ads on their website.

I've been invited to a few other sites and plan to give them a try. I'll return with the reviews.
